Red Moth - Tiffany Lamp Screen Inspired

This 13” wide moth is based on a Tiffany Studios lamp screen which was an available accessory for their popular stained glass lamps. The moth would hang from the finial of the lamp to shield the lamp user from the (then new) bright electric bulbs.

This moth is made with more than 120 pieces of hand poured Youghiogheny Glass which were carefully selected and hand cut to be as symmetrical as possible. Youghiogheny Glass is a premium art glass that comes as close as any glass available today to mimicking the glass used by Tiffany Studios in their original lamps. The piece is bordered in lead came and a brass jack chain is included for hanging and display.

I create my pieces using traditional materials including materials with lead and lead alloys. My pieces are washed thoroughly, polished, and waxed using industry leading Renaissance Wax, and the risk of any kind of lead contamination from normal handling is minimal. Out of an abundance of caution, please wash your hands after extended handling of the piece and keep out of reach of children.
